Dear Parents and/or Guardians,

We are honored and privileged to have the opportunity to welcome you to the start of the 2016-2017 school year here at Nicollet Public School.  We look forward to working with you and building a productive partnership.  As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities.  We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:
  1. Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience
  2. Completes all homework assignments given by teachers
  3. Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
  4. Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
  5. Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject
  6. Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school
Now on a personal note, I wanted to share with you my philosophy on education.  My philosophy includes valuing all students and promoting the importance of education.  A theme throughout my career in education has been making a difference and opening doors for young people.  I believe that by working with students, parents, staff, and community, great things can be accomplished.  I also know that all children can learn and be successful given the proper instruction, guidance, and support.

With that being said, I
come to Nicollet with 17 years of experience in education.  I spent 14 years in the classroom teaching 3rd-11th grade in 3 different states (CA, NV, and MN).  The majority of my teaching experience though was teaching math at the middle school level.  For the past 3 years, I served as the Dean of Students at Little Falls Community Middle School.  My wife, Christina, and I have two children; Taitem who is 4 years old and Tianna who is 9 months old.  This Fall, they both will be starting at NECC.  Taitem is very excited to start at his new school!

In my spare time (if there is such a thing haha!) my family and I enjoy anything that involves being outside.  I also try to find activities for the entire family to enjoy.  I love being able to watch my kids run around and play.  I am definitely a sports fanatic and enjoy playing and watching them when I get a chance.  I wanted to let you all know how excited that my family and I are at becoming a part of the Nicollet Public School family.  The entire Nicollet Public School staff would like to thank you ahead of time for your support and look forward to working with you.  Please contact me anytime at 507-232-3411 (ext. 3118).

Respectfully,

Todd Toulouse, NPS Principal
