A big Thank You to everyone who came and supported our Book Fair. We had a total of $3,411.76 in fair sales. Those sales earned us $1,364.70 in FREE books for our classrooms and library! Thank you to all the parent, school and community volunteers who helped set-up and work the Book Fair. We could not have done this event without your help!

We celebrated our students of the quarter last week with a program during advisory. These students were chosen by their teachers for consistently showing Raider Pride and serving as role models for others. Congratulations! Note: it was class color dress up day for snow week, which is why one student is wearing a blue wig!

Today our K12 Nicollet family celebrated together during our annual PBIS Pancake Breakfast. This year our 9th graders hosted the event by starting their school day cooking up flapjacks and pouring syrup on short stacks. It is a great event we look forward to every February with all our K12 students.

On Thursday grade 6 students took a walking tour to visit the Nicollet Water Treatment Facility. Students learned where our water comes from, how it is made safe to drink and then after it is used, how it gets retreated. On our trip students also learned about some of the historic buildings in downtown Nicollet. Photo credits (Jace H)

Today students participated in our annual Spelling Bee! We kicked off the event with a minibee for grades 3-4 which was won by Wesley spelling the word Señor. Then we moved into the grade 5-8 Spelling Bee. With tough competition and correctly spelling the word 'Claustrophobia' Lynken won the top spot and will move onto the regional competition.

Today our American Government students visited our State Capitol! We learned about the physical construction of the building, we saw different rooms and learned how they are used (Including Chambers, Governor Reception Room and State Supreme Court). After our Tour Guides left us, we received a personal visit by our District's State Senator Nick Frentz and our hometown Legislative Representative Erica Schwartz. Both Sen. Frentz and Rep. Schwartz gave our students an exclusive tour through the chamber floors of the House and Senate. What a great experience!

Thursday after school the conservation crew stopped at Jace's grandmothers house to rake leaves. Afterwards the group received a guided walking tour through the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) farmland behind the house and learned how these areas are used as buffer zones to protect environmentally sensitive areas, filter groundwater and reduce runoff.

Grade 10 students had a great time today at the "Construct Tomorrow" event at the Mankato Civic Center. Students learned about a variety of trades and participated in a range of engaging activities! Afterwards, on the way out one of the organizers asked about our group and said we had "a great group of kids" who were engaged and fun to talk to. Great Job Nicollet Raiders!
