Last week, our first and second graders teamed up for an exciting day of Winter Olympic fun! Students competed in a variety of events, including ice skating, bobsledding, ski jumping, curling, and hockey. They even designed and created their own gold medals to celebrate their hard work. The day concluded with a festive closing ceremony, where students enjoyed their “Olympic flame” (Cheetos!) and shared their favorite events. It was truly a fun-filled and memorable day here at NPS!

The Mankato Moondogs are partnering with Nicollet Public School for Muttnick’s Reading Club from February 28 through April 2. Students will track their reading minutes and work toward weekly, baseball-themed goals — 1st Base through Home Run — set by their classroom teachers.

As students complete signed tracking forms and reach each milestone, they will earn prizes: a Moondogs folder (1st Base), two free Habaneros tickets valid for any 2026 regular season game (2nd Base), a Moondogs logo baseball (3rd Base), and two free Moondogs tickets valid for one designated 2026 game (Home Run). The program promotes excitement and enthusiasm for reading while rewarding students for their hard work.

Today grade 06 students participated in Junior Achievement program called BizTown. BizTown combines in-class learning with a day-long visit to a simulated town. This popular learning experience allows students to operate banks, manage restaurants, write checks, and vote for mayor. Students are able to connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real world.
